A church for every day of the week

We are so much more than a church that meets on Sunday (though we love this too!). During the week we gather to share our lives, our gifts and our love of Jesus with each other. There is something for everyone! Scroll down to view all the ways you can get involved.

Small Groups

Small groups are the lifeblood of our community. It is where friendships grow and our faith deepens.

Tuesday 2pm - Mixed Group

Led by Michael we look at God’s word and encourage each other on our walk. This is where we grow in faith - through deep friendships, the Word, discussion and prayer. All welcome!

Tuesday 7.30pm - Mixed Group

We meet to encourage each other and grow in our knowledge and love of the Lord, led by Michael we are a robust and lively group with lots of discussion and supper. Come and listen or join in!

Wednesday 7pm - Women’s Group

We meet to encourage each other and grow in our knowledge and love of the Lord, often reading a Christian book together. We would love you to join us!

CAMEO Thursdays 10:30am at Pepperfield

CAMEO stands for Come And Meet Each Other, and offers an opportunity for all older people associated with Bowral Mittagong Uniting Church to enjoy a chat over coffee.

Food & Fellowship

Wednesday 12-1pm in the Gallery at Bowral

Every Wednesday we eat together at our Community Lunch. It is held in the gallery, is free and open to anyone who would like to come, be fed and enjoy the company of others.

We have laundry and shower facilities for anyone who needs it, as well as a friendly face and a kind word and the love of Jesus along the way. Come, and we will feed you or come help us care for others - or both!  You can turn up at Bowral (find us here) or call us first, whichever you prefer.

Our Fabulous Fair Days.

We have been blessed with an industrious bunch here at Bowral Mittagong Uniting! Periodically throughout the year we hold fair days. Follow us on Facebook for announcements or better still come join us and be a part of the fun and fellowship we find in putting our Fair Days together.

Mittagong Pantry Days

Mondays 9.30am-11am at Mittagong

We provide free fresh food and pantry items for anyone who needs it each Monday at Mittagong, and Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at Bowral (see below for Bowral Pantry Day details).

Community Laundry & Bathroom

We have a free, dedicated, freshly built Laundry and Bathroom for anyone who needs it.

It is open to all, NB new opening days/ times:

Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9 am- 12 noon.

Contact us to Volunteer or simply come along and use them as you need.

Pieces & Yarn

Tuesdays 9am at Bowral in the Gallery

Pieces & Yarn is a knitting group that meets on Tuesday mornings in the lovely north facing gallery from 9am-12.30pm. All are welcome whatever your skill level! It’s a great place to learn new skills and make new friends. Pieces and Yarn have been a supporter for many years of the ‘Wrap with Love’ project. Every Tuesday members can be seen knitted squares that are then turned into warm and colorful quilts. Playgroup - UnitingKids

Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 Bowral Church Hall

UnitingKids is a play group for all children 0-5 and their parents or carers. We meet on Tuesday mornings from 9.30-11.30am in the church hall.

It is a fun and relaxed environment where all the children enjoy free time to play, as well as craft activities, music and story time.

September is a fun month for playgroup with the opportunity to come along to the BMUC annual Spring Fair on Saturday 21st, 8am- 1pm. The children’s outdoor play area will be buzzing with kids activities, enjoy the Bluey jumping castle, outdoor play, make your own take home items and much more! Then on the final Tuesday of term, 24th September, we’re going on a bear hunt… and celebrating spring with a teddy bear’s picnic! Bring along your favourite teddy, a hat, and a plate of food to share. Be in touch for more info.  

Uniting Families 4 Faith & Fun-Kids group

Wednesdays 3:30pm in the Church Hall

This is a space for primary aged kids to come together to have fun, build friendships, and explore what faith is all about. We meet after school each Wednesday during term time. All children from kindergarten – year six are welcome. Each week, there are fun and crazy games, activities, learning, and a delicious afternoon tea.

Dinner to follow twice a term for the whole family!

Uniting Families 4

Faith & Fun:

celebrating God’s good creation

The Uniting Families 4 Faith & Fun Wednesday afternoon group (see info above) during October are making some artistic photographic imagery of God’s good creation, which will be on display at the half term dinner on 13th November at 5pm. All primary school aged children welcome to be part of the fun!

SRE

Special Religious Education (SRE) is taught in NSW Public schools by trained SRE teachers, classes are engaging, that encourages students to explore the basics of the Christian faith from the Bible.

Teaching SRE in Local Schools

Rev Michael Earl and Family Ministry Worker Tammy Handley teach combined Christian classes at Bowral, Kangaloon, and Glenquarry Public Schools. The SRE team they are part of come from various local churches, using a CEP Connect curriculum.  

 Also known as Scripture, or school scripture, SRE has been supported by BMUC for many years across the Highlands, with members teaching at many schools. SRE has been a part of NSW schooling since 1849.

Grey Gardeners

2pm Thursdays at the Hoogland’s home

The young at heart, enthusiastic, members of Grey Gardeners meet as a group on Thursday’s to grow and tend to plants preparing them for sale at BMUC fairs. They also enjoy tending to the gardens surrounding the church and carpark at Bowral worship centre, along with other church member volunteers. A cuppa, some yummy afternoon tea and great conversation is enjoyed by all. Uniting Voices

We are very blessed to have a wonderful number of singers of all abilities at Uniting Bowral! Our choir practices on Monday evenings in the church and regualrly sings in our 9am service at Bowral. We are always welcoming and if you would like to sing please speak with Kerith Fowles using the Contact Us button below.

Bellringing

If you are in Bowral on a Friday evening you can hear our magnificent bell ringers practicing, or before our service on a Sunday morning at 9am.  

We would love you to join this team too!

Outback Ministry Support

We have an active group of volunteers that head up BMUC’s partnership with various outback ministry areas.

During 2024 the group has coordinated a collection of donations for the Flying padre (learn more: https://bhpatrol.wixsite.com/bhpatrol) which included many knitted items.

In conjunction with the Social Responsibility group they have also formed a new partnership with the Alice Springs Uniting Church and the St Philips College in Alice Springs this year.

Social Responsibility Group

As a congregation we have participated in well organised events highlighting justice issues, such as climate change and held prayer viduals in times of great community need.
